Wisely Using Social Bookmarking Sites for Traffic

Marketing on the internet requires maintaining a steady stream of traffic to your site and a great source for 
this is social bookmarking sites. An ongoing ‘quest’ for any online business is how to get traffic and preferably the type that is targeted and free. One great source that is often overlooked is by using social bookmarks when circulating content on the internet. These sites are primarily used for the sharing of interesting online locations or information with others so why not promote your own? Well this is a great way to attract targeted website traffic but it must be done properly or your efforts will be wasted.
Here is a simple 3 step procedural guide to follow when using social bookmarks for attracting traffic when marketing on the internet.
Share Sites Other Than Yours
When sharing bookmarks you want to be sure that you share content other than just your own. Flagrantly promoting only your own content will quickly turn annoying to other site members. The sincerity behind your bookmark suggestions will then be called into question resulting in less people acknowledging any social bookmarks you may suggest.
Maintain a healthy mix of content and/or sites when bookmarking and keep the concentration of your own ‘work’ down around 15 percent or so.
Content Must Be Fresh and Current
When ’suggesting’ any of your content or sites to other members only use the most interesting and recently developed content you have available. By consistently using ‘outdated’ or boring bookmarks will only lead to diminishing your credibility with other site members. Always strive to use the best and most fresh content you have got to offer.
Bookmark Only Content Not Site
Be careful when bookmarking any content to direct the bookmark to the page of the content itself and not to the site. Again common sense comes into play here that if you direct others to a site for a particular piece of content it may take them time to actually find it. Not many if any will be willing to take the time to dig around for information that has not been made readily available to them through the recommended link.
Social bookmarking sites if used correctly can be a terrific source of targeted website traffic online. Since 
these sites are used primarily for sharing interesting content with others it is not wise to appear to be always shamelessly promoting your own. And when you do bookmark your own content you always want it to be fresh and interesting. Therefore it is important when using social bookmarks to promote your own work that you keep the 3 rules we discussed here today in mind. By using this method correctly you now have a viable solution when pondering how to get traffic or at least more of it to any online location of your own choosing.
